Goodwood Revival 2012

Goodwood Revival 14th, 15th & 16th September 2012

 As in previous years we took the white DB4GT to compete in the feature race ‘RAC TT Celebration’. Qualifying for the race was split over 2 days, 25 minute sessions on both the Friday and Saturday, the race was at 2pm on Sunday which was 1 hour long. It was a 2 driver format with Andy Wallace partnering Tom. Most of the cars in this race had 2 professional drivers thus giving them a big advantage.

Qualifying;

Both qualifying sessions were started by Tom, with Andy taking over at the half way point. The best time from either Quali session would give you your grid position. With no prior testing at this circuit coupled with the fact Andy has never driven a classic GT car before it was no surprise that we qualified towards the back of the grid. Although both drivers were confident that come the race, their laptimes would be quicker.

Race;

Tom started the race in 29th position and managed to overtake a car a lap for the first 5 laps, this moved us up to P24, we remained in this position until the safety car came out on lap 10, with only 15 minutes of the race completed and the pit window due to open at the 20 minute point, all we could do is sit behind the safety car for 2 laps. At the end of the second lap Tom pitted with Andy now taking over, other competitors chose to stay out as the safety car was due in at the end of lap 3. A delay exiting the pit lane cost us some time, but once on track Andy was soon up to speed.  With Andy’s confidence growing and with some great driving and overtakes we moved to P18 when the race finished.

 A thoroughly enjoyable weekend.
