Le Mans Legends 2011

Qualifying- Thursday 10th

Tom Alexander started the quali session in the DB4GTwhich was in class 3b.
Having not done many laps around Le mans in previous years getting familiar to the track again was Tom’s main aim. He managed 6 laps in the opening half hour of the 60min session with a personal best time to build on.
Adrian Willmott took over the car at the half way point with the intention of qualifying the car at the front of its class. Having more experience racing at Le Mans he was able to achieve his goal with a time of 4.58.7 which is 3 seconds quicker than when we last entered this event in 2009.
So to summarize we were 1st in class by 12 seconds and P12 overall in a grid of 63 cars.

Race – Saturday 12th

After spending Friday evening going through the circuit map with Adrian, Tom started the race confident he could go quicker than he had gone in quail. Stuck in amongst thoroughbred race cars Tom managed to smash his personal best time by 11 seconds and post a lap time of 5.10.8, his consistent laps meant he handed over to Adrian in P15, which was still 1st in class.
Adrian maintained our lead in class 3b and moved us up to P10 by the end of the race.
Eventually we took the class win by over a minute and were the first Aston Martin over the finish line.
